Lover Inside

The year 1793 for France was not the most successful year, the numerous royal divisions, the declaration of the war in England, the proclamation by the National Convention of a new Constitution, which has never been adopted.

However, the year 1793 marked a great event in the history of world art. It is this year that Paris opens its doors to visitors, perhaps the most famous museum of peace, Luv.

Ansamble Louvre, with his subsequent architectural changes, has risen in the centre of Paris since the end of the twelfth century. Building on the western edge of the city, the original structure was gradually " absorbed " by a rapidly growing city. The dark fortress of the first centuries has been gradually transformed into a modernized home of Francis I and later into a luxury palace of King Louis XIV. Next, we'll look at the history of this extraordinary building and the museum that's been holding it since 1793.

During the 40-year period of the reign of Philip II August (1180-1223), the strength and authority of the French monarchs increased considerably both within and outside the borders of the State. In order to protect the capital of the State from the Anglo-Norman threat, the King decided to strengthen Paris ' s defence capacity by means of a fortress called the Lover. It was built on the right bank of Sen, west of the capital.

The Salle Basse is all that remains today from the mid-century. His initial appointment is unknown. The decommissioned ceiling (now lost) rested on two columns in the centre of the hall and carrying walls. Sounds, columns, pitches that can be seen today, dates 1230-1240, were added to the old store.

In the middle of the fourteenth century, Paris grows far beyond the original strength of Philip August. During the 100-year war, there was a need to build new defensive structures. The Lover in the city lost his defence functions. It ceased to store the royal treasury and archives, removed from the fortress of the Palace and enemies of the French crown held there in the underground prison cazemates.
